I've read this several times today, Mark and I feel I have little to contribute. I love your descriptive analogies and have tweeted a couple of exerpts today - a few people have enjoyed reading this as a result.

I find when I feel at my most vulnerable or mauve, Twitter is a comforting hang-out and without fail, I am true to myself. Sometimes profound and thoughtful, other times, chatty and light-hearted. But I often find it easier to talk to my Twitter friends than I do my close friends in the real world. I haven't worked out why that is yet.

I had no focus in school - in fact, I'm all too easily distracted even now. But were I one of your students, I feel sure I'd be engaged.

I don't feel you smiling, though.

An intelligent insight into and reflection of Twitterdom.

I personally find Twitter to be an amazing source of information (providing I follow the right people) and I can fully understand the position that many users find themselves in when spending a lot of time in the zone. Coincidently I have been evaluating over the past 2 weeks my time commitment 'there' as I feel it is becoming a bit of a time vampire. However I wont be ditching it just yet - as well as the data source, its a bit like popping down the local for a bit of banter with friends, colleagues and total strangers, which can be a nice way to unwind.

A great article - you should do it more often?! ;-)

Damn it, I could have unfollowed them. Nobody tells me anything.

I respected their decesion to leave and understand why. Write now I am writing my next novel (I would like to think my last unpublished one). When I am heavy into a project I only Tweet at certain times. It keeps me honest.

Thanks for the blog!
